10- Wild Card

The World of Polaroid:

The world of technology is constantly evolving and releasing a new array of products. A brand that has consistently released products and stays relevant in their market is Polaroid. I have always enjoyed the way Polaroid photos print and give off the impression of old school film. I have had my eyes on one of their products for a long time and finally got it last month and it was worth every dollar. The Polaroid Lab Instant Printer which prints photos taken on your phone onto polaroid photo paper. Surprisingly easy to use however, quite pricey as paper is not included when purchasing the printer. The printer itself is $129.99 and all that is included when purchasing is the printer and a charging cable. The printer can be charged to full battery and then runs on battery power so it does not have to stay plugged in for use. The paper is rather pricey as the paper packs only hold eight sheets of film and cost around $15 a package. There is the option to purchase a Polaroid Lab Starter Set which features the printer and film refills for $55 extra. To use this printer you simply place your phone on top of the printer lining up the photo until the printer chimes telling you it is lined up. Once the photo is lined up you press the red button and the shutter captures the photo, then instantly prints it. Like every Polaroid print you have to allow time for it to develop around ten minutes are so and the results are awesome. I've had the printer for around a month now and have used it multiple times. I highly recommend this product to anyone that has a passion for photos or just loves the retro feel of Polaroid prints.

Along with their printer they offer a multitude of instant cameras that print full size polaroids as well. Their products range from the newest instant camera the Polaroid Now to the world's first ever instant SLR camera. Their newest product the Polaroid Now is in high demand as it is a instant print autofocus camera. They currently offer it in four different colors white, black, blue, and green. They are releasing three new colors soon in red, orange, and yellow. The paper is the same as used in the printer I mentioned above but eliminates one step from the process as you just take the picture and automatically have your print. This new camera is supposed to make it as easy as point and shoot with vibrant colors on your prints. These camera are running at $100 not including film. If you want to go old school though Polaroid still sells the first ever SLR instant camera that is used heavily by photographers. This one however, the price is quite stiff at $389.99 and this is not including film. The oldest model still receives rave reviews around the globe but is it worth the price?

Finally, what separates Polaroid and places it so high in demand for instant cameras? Their newest feature for any polaroid photo printed from any of their cameras or printers. The ability to transform your photos into augmented reality through the Polaroid app. Simply click the add media button in the app adding the photos to the feature. Once it is done you will be able to hold up your polaroid in the app and it will put it into motion showing the live scene. I haven't tried this feature out yet but I am planning to over the next few weeks when school is over. Their app is also very helpful in the set up process of any of their printers or cameras making the whole process a breeze. Coming up with new simple technology while keeping a retro feel has kept them atop of the food chain and will continue to bring success to their company.
