7- Binge Watching
Binge Watching: Quarantine Edition
I spend quite a lot of time online and binge watching a multitude of genres. Due to the recent idea of Social Distancing/Self Quarantining I have found myself looking for new shows or movies to fill my time with. Especially since I haven't left the house since early March, I have discovered some new things to watch through multiple streaming services. My family has recently started watching all of the Marvel movies every other night on Disney's streaming service Disney+. We started watching in the order you should actually watching them. Starting from Captain America:The First Avenger all the way to the last one Avengers:Endgame. Watching them in this order makes everything a lot easier to understand. While watching all of these Marvel movies I learned I had a favorite superhero and not just because of his heavenly appearance. It was my first time watching any of the Thor movies featured in the Marvel Universe. I think what makes these Marvel movies so amazing to watch is the large impressive amounts of special effects featured throughout the movies. One movie in particular though was very impressive although not one of the most entertaining of the films Dr. Strange was captivating to watch. This movie was nominated for an Oscar for best visual effects and did win an Empire Award for them.
Disney+ has also brought back a large part of my favorite childhood shows. For instance I have already finished rewatching Wizards of Waverly Place, Jonas, Sonny With A Chance, and Suite Life on Deck. It is interesting to rewatch these shows as the main stars of some of these shows like Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, and the Jonas Brothers are highly popular singers now.
Along with Disney+ I spend a lot of time streaming on Netflix. I recently finished their new Netflix original Tiger King. Which is a totally different end of the spectrum than the Marvel movies. Tiger has reached a wild amount of popularity and has been ranked #1 streamed show on Netflix the past few weeks. I can honestly say after watching the whole show I do not really understand the hype. The show is more of "What the hell am I actually watching?" from watching a marriage of 3 people, women being walked around by chains like tigers, or the terribly inhumane constant breeding of tiger cubs. The only 'good' part of the series in my opinion would be the investigation of the murder of Carol Baskin's husband where the discuss the multiple different murder conspiracies like cover her husband in sardine oil and feeding him to the tigers. Here is the link to the preview if you are interested in watching this rather interesting documentary. Tiger King Netflix Trailer.
After watching that overly popular train wreck I decided to fall back on series I have watched multiple times. New Girl is a personal favorite of mine as I have watched the whole show from season 1 to 7 almost eight separate times. The show was aired on Fox for many years and follows the crazy life of a woman named Jessica Day who moves into a loft with three complete strangers all of which are men. The show has a lot of comedy but has romance woven in as well to keep viewers interested. I have also been watching The Office again which is a better spinoff of the British version and has the same concept as New girl, comedy and romance all mixed into one. Quarantine has gotten me to change some of my binge watching habits but some of them will never change. However, my social distancing has me highly recommending watching the Marvel Universe movies in order to almost everyone I talk to.
