8- Predictions

Change is a Good Thing:

I spend almost all my time (when I'm not at softball) streaming shows and scrolling through social media. That being said I'm interested to see the change we will see throughout the decade. A lot of changes are already starting like the transformations of video to 5G. The major impact of 5G will be clear in later years like 2024 where an estimated $2.2 trillion will be added to the economy. It is also expected by 2025 to account for over 20% of all global connections. It seems like the world is always trying to make upgrades, I remember when 4G became a huge deal and believe it or not I remember having 3G on my first iPhone. I'm sure within this decade we will begin to see the development and use of 6G. With this supposedly amazing 5G it has been said that smart phone user could expect some amazing and breathtaking new applications. I predict these new applications to deal with the quality of video and the graphics for games will improve as well. The prediction of the quality of our phones being 4K quality is expected and eventually we can expect 8K quality. With this new improved video quality we could potentially see new streaming services made to show this new higher quality video.

When discussing this potential for higher quality video I predict a handful of new streaming services will enter the game. Changes will also be made to current popular streaming services like Netflix and Hulu during what has been named the "Streaming Wars". Netflix has already taken steps in the right direction by coming up with reality tv shows which debut new episodes every week. Like a regularly aired show like the Bachelor on ABC. For instance, they came out with The Circle which was a group of people competing through a social media platform with no in person interactions. Other shows like Love is Blind and the newest one Too Hot to Handle are also being produced by Netflix. Which is a good idea when there is rumors for streaming services like NBC being created that will feature shows that bring in a lot of customers. The Office which is very popular with my age demographic is rumored to be leaving Netflix to be featured on the new NBC service. I predict this will bring a large amount of subscribers to their service as the show has a large following. Streaming Services will have to start producing more and more original content. Especially with new services coming out they will want to take their content back to make available to their customers which will take away a large amount of show and movies from their libraries. Disney+ was just the beginning of the streaming war madness as they took their large handfuls of Disney shows off Netflix for their service. I predict a few new streaming services will step into the world of streaming and pose some future issues for other services.

I also predict some changes throughout social media as it is ever-changing. TikTok has been the biggest thing in the world since it stepped on the scene. I believe because it replaced the extremely popular app Vine. Now sharing funny videos, craft ideas, dances, and so much more has become easily the newest trend. I think Instagram and Twitter will stay high up in the popularity but I think they will have competition by the end of this year. I predict a new photo sharing app similar to Instagram will become highly popular. Having more modern features like more filters, editing options, matching you with new users who share your same interests. A sleeker modern version of Instagram could drag in a large number of people from multiple demographics. These changes and so many more are what I foresee happening in the next few years.
